Motorola SB6120 Cable Modem – Don’t Purchase Before You Read This Evaluation by Lock Rocker
I just got an awesome on-line deal on a Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS three.0 extreme Broadband Cable Modem, and would prefer to share my private encounter with this product by reviewing it here.
Overview:
I was pleasingly surprised in the wonderful functionality boost in my COX Cable World-wide-web speeds. The SB6120 was reasonably priced, uncomplicated to set up, and it really is raw speed will blow you away. I would extremely advise the Motorola Surfboard if you are inside the market for a cable modem.
What is inside the Box:
The very first issue I noticed when the SB6120 arrived was that it was noticeably smaller sized and lighter then my old Linksys gadget. The modem came packaged with a tiny AC energy adapter and Ethernet network patch cable. Also integrated was a rapid cable setup diagram along with a documentation CD containing an Adobe PDF SB6120 users manual.
SB6120 Installation:
Installation of my new Motorola Surfboard modem was extremely quick. I just disconnected & removed my old Linksys modem, connected the coaxial and network cables, and plugged it in. After installing the SB6120, I had to call my cable provider (Cox Cable in my case) and give them the serial number and MAC address of the new modem. These are printed on the modem and on the box. After following the Cox technicians simple instructions on rebooting my new modem, then restarting my home network router, I was online and happily surfing the Internet.
Motorola Surfboard Efficiency:
I couldn’t wait to jump over to speedtest.net to see what this baby could do. All I can say is WOW, I was getting over 30 Mbps download and almost 6 Mbps upload speed. These are really impressive numbers by any account, plus a dramatic increase in speed over my old Linksys modems throughput.

The SB6120’s speed, efficiency, features, and excellent customer reviews made it a no brainer for me, and I am incredibly satisfied with the one that I purchased.
